Daisy Mae
- "Older cats never get adopted" the saying goes but Daisy Mae proved everyone wrong. At 13 years old and missing most of her teeth, she was adopted by a very loving vet tech who understood that every cat deserves a home.
"Emily
, now named Haley, is adjusting very well to life with my existing cat, Juno, and to my husband and me.
She is so playful and so cuddly.
We just love her.
I attached a photo to show how well she and Juno are getting along.
I am amazed and pleased that they have taken to each other so quickly! ... we
are all very happy with this new family member." Jennifer Charron
Ginger
came to us with a litter of kittens. The kittens were all adopted (of course) but Pearl had an old eye injury that most people can't overlook. Fortunately for Ginger (and Pearl) a loving family fell in love with them both.
Allie Kat
- We all loved this wonderful cat. She was turned in to us because the owners built a new home and they did not want to get cat hair on their new furniture. Can you imagine? Lucky for Allie, a woman and her dog fell in love and Allie did too.
Buttercup
- Came to our organization with kittens. The kittens all got adopted leaving Buttercup alone until a wonderful woman came to look at the cats and took Buttercup home. We even got a great volunteer in the bargain.
Success Stories
These are some of our cats that have found nice homes
Note from Gigi, Joe and
their new feline companion, Christmas.
Hi to all at Cat Tails! It will be a week tomorrow that I will have been with my new family. After sniffing things out and getting to know all the sounds and smells of everything I started to settle in some. My new feline roommate Lucky doesn't seem to be so bad, we can be cordial and will even play together if the mood strikes us. I especially like to play sneak attack on a silk fern and bat around alot of the babies toys. Not too sure if my new family can appreciate my early morning and late night bursts of energy. Although they are always ready to greet and pet me even when I want to catch a cat nap. I'm receiving lots of love and attention and purr alot of the time. This is the Purrfect home for me! Well that's all for now I feel a nap coming on.

Cassidy, now named Peppy, sleeps with the two kids in the family. She is very sweet and affectionate. Peppy is teaching Victoria's little brother to use the litter box versus "potty training".... A ball of fun!
Kismet
tested positive for leukemia after a wonderful young couple adopted her. Thankfully, they decided to keep "Kizzy" who now has a human baby as a best friend.
Say "AHHHHH"
"The Untold Story"
Clara Bea & Percy
have been enjoying their new home with lots of love given by their wonderful adopted parents, Brad and Sarah Hughes.
Dooley
has a fine life on 30 acres of land. She had a tuff beginning in life and now she has a permanent home with her foster mom.
Swanky
is a "special needs" kitten that developed neurological problems as a result of a very high fever. He recovered from the fever but it left Swanky with the inability to control his back legs very well. Life is all good for Swanky
though because a nice lady fell in love and knew that you can't judge a book by it's cover.
Ethel
- Once thought to be the nastiest cat on earth, Ethel now lives the good life with one of our volunteers.
Pearl
was taken from Animal Control on the day they were going to put her to sleep. After being returned due to allergies, Pearl is now living with Ginger (also featured here) living the good life as a pampered pet in a loving family.
Gabe & Gabby
have now found a new loving home. Looking forward to lots of pictures and stories about them in the near future.
Hello to all my friends at Cat Tails!
About a week and a half ago my Mom, Dad and Granddad came to PetSmart and adopted me. They filled out lots of papers and then took me to my new forever home. I love it here! I have six brothers and sisters to play with and they love me now, although it took about a week for all of them to decide! We play and they groom me and nobody hisses anymore!
I also have a new name! I am now Gracie Rose!
Mom took me to the vet, I go to Dr. Joanie at Scott's Hill Animal Hospital, and she was very impressed with the good care you gave me and the records you kept. She said those helped her alot! She said I look great! Pretty soon I will get my rabies shot and I will be very brave and not cry or anything!
I want to thank all of you for all you did for me and please give my foster Mom, Jeanette, a big hug and a "noser" for me, she was so kind and loving. Be sure to tell her I am a happy and much loved kitty and that I have lots of toys!
Love,
Gracie Rose, formerly Cici

Simba is a thirty month old male cat that was formally named Inky. He is very sweet and loves everybody. When he was adopted, he was very small but because he loves to eat, he has turned into a big love bug!

Just a quick note to let you know how the siamese mix kitten is doing that I acquired thru your organization around a month ago. I believe your records showed her as Stella. We have named her Ling. She is the sweetest little lady....a truely pleasant addition to our family. I have included a couple of pictures of her. I will continue to let you know how she is doing as she grows.
Thank you!

Hi! I thought you might be interested in seeing at updated photo of the cat I adopted from you. He was called Harley but I changed his name to Paper. It seemed to fit his goofy personality better. He is doing well and very happy. He has gotten slightly bigger from when I first got him. He likes playing with bouncy balls and yarn. He also gets into trouble because he likes to pull the drain plug out of the bathroom sink and find toothbrushes to be fun. He also finds flushing the toilet to be the biggest entertainment. He comes running when he hears the flushing start and watches the water go down. When the toilet has filled back up, he walks away. It's hilarious. Thank you for the great cat!

It was early on a Friday towards the end of April and I had stopped by
Petsmart to get a new toy for my cat. My husband was half way through a
difficult deployment to Iraq, I was felling a bit down and went to look at
all the cats and kittens available for adoption to help cheer me up. There
were so many that needed a good home but I already had a older cat who ran
my house so I did not plan on going home with a new kitty that day. I
walked along looking in the cages and when I got to the last cage on the row
I couldn't see anything but when I looked harder there were two tiny
kittens huddled together in the back. There names were Shelia and Tom Tom
(now called Jiji and Chai). I was intrigued one was all black and the other
had the markings of a Siamese yet they were sister and brother. I held them
both and feel in love, the only question was which one would I take. I just
couldn't choose only one and hated to seperate them so I adoped them both.
I was worried about how my male Maine Coon would like having 2 six week old
balls of fluff and claws running around. I needed not worry, after a few
days of getting to know each other he adoped them as well and they are all
three always together usually cuddled up on my sons bed or chasing each
other around the house. My older cat is much more playful now and I don't
worry about him be lonely while the family is at work and school. Jiji is
the sweetest little cat she squeaks rather than meows and loves to cuddle
with me. Chai is the most loving cat I have ever owned and can not get
enough attention from "his" people. They have made my Husband's long
deployments more bearable and always seem know just when I need cheering up.
Thank you Cat Tails for bringing Jiji and Chai into my life.

We adopted Smokey and Misty (now Gus and Daisy) when Cat Tails was visiting Zeetlegoo's Pet Store in Southport. We had only wanted to get a boy kitty to keep us company, but when we saw how close Gus and Daisy were, we couldn't resist. Brother and sister, (we call them 'the twins') they were born April 2nd, 2005 in the Ocean Isle Facility and you can tell they were raised with love. Gus is curious, loud and lovable while Daisy is a shy moma's girl - only getting love when she is in the right mood. They do everything together and are completely spoiled. My husband even now claims to be a cat person!! Gus is his little man! Here is a picture of them in one of their favorite sleeping spots. They still love to climb and have conquered most of our tall furniture - they even like to sleep high, as they are here in my grandmother'sVictrola. We love them and know they enjoy their home! Thanks Cat Tails!! Niki Kimball Southport, NC
